The Fear Of Failing Jesus

Are you afraid of failing in your relationship with Jesus as a believer? Do you have a “why even try” attitude about reading your Bible, praying, and obeying Jesus because you know you cannot stay consistent with those basics?

When you feel that way, it is important to remember a few things:

  • Seek Intimacy, Not Perfection.

Spending time with Jesus and obeying His Word are not about your perfection or performance.  They are practical ways for you to engage with God and build the intimacy your spirit deeply desires (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

  • New Mercies are Available Daily.

When you have “failure moments” in these areas, do not run from Jesus but repent.  He will forgive and cleanse you and provide you with His compassion and mercy every time (Lamentations 3:22-23).

  • The Holy Spirit is Your Helper.

Jesus has not set you up for failure but success.  That is why He gave you the Holy Spirit as your Helper.  Ask Him to empower you daily to honor Jesus in all your ways (John 14:26).

Like any relationship, consistency is key.  It begins with a decision, then requires action to bring it to pass.  But you are not alone.  God is there to help you every step of the way.  Will you trust Him with that today and every day?  Let me know in the comments.
